[46:9]  1 tn Heb “remember the former things, from antiquity”; KJV, ASV “the former things of old.”

[46:9]  2 tn Heb “and there is no other” (so NASB, NIV, NRSV).

[54:4]  3 tn Or “embarrassed”; NASB “humiliated…disgraced.”

[54:4]  4 tn Another option is to translate, “the disgrace of our widowhood” (so NRSV). However, the following context (vv. 6-7) refers to Zion’s husband, the Lord, abandoning her, not dying. This suggests that an אַלְמָנָה (’almanah) was a woman who had lost her husband, whether by death or abandonment.

[64:9]  5 tn Heb “do not remember sin continually.”

[64:9]  6 tn Heb “Look, gaze at your people, all of us.” Another option is to translate, “Take a good look! We are all your people.”

[65:17]  7 sn This hyperbolic statement likens the coming transformation of Jerusalem (see vv. 18-19) to a new creation of the cosmos.

[65:17]  8 tn Or perhaps, “the former things” (so ASV, NASB, NIV, NRSV); TEV “The events of the past.”

[65:17]  9 tn Heb “and they will not come up on the mind.”
